Fairhaven police warn of car and shed breaks

October 12, 2016 by Fairhave Neighborhood News

Fairhaven Police have warned residents of a large number of car breakins in the last couple of weeks.

“There have been an increased number of breaks into unlocked sheds, vehicles, and other storage facilities,” reads a post on the department’s Facebook page. “Please be sure that your property is secured as best as possible. Always lock sheds, vehicles and garages. Also, be sure to put anything easily removed from a yard somewhere safe, for example bicycles, tools, and other small easily carried away personal belongings. Let’s not make it too easy for these disrespectful [thieves].”

In response to a post, the department conceded that thieves can also break through chains and locks, but they are “definitely a deterrent and will make it necessary for the crook to linger longer with more of a chance to get caught.”

Call 911 if you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood.

“Reminder: If you’re a victim, please do not touch anything and call [police] immediately.”
