Members of the Fairhaven Police Department participated in two programs to help local children have a brighter Christmas last month. The Department worked with the community to “fill the bus” that was parked at WalMart in Fairhaven on Saturday, 12/15/18. Officers and members of the community donated toys that were given to local children for Christmas.
Fairhaven police officers also participated in “Shop with a Cop,” taking 16 chlidren on a shopping spree at WalMart. Officers donated money out of pocket, the union doated $25 for each child, and WalMart gave each child a $25 gift card toward the shopping spree. Fairhaven Police Chief Michael Myers said it was heartwarming to see how many children opted to use their shopping spree to buy gifts for siblings, and not only for themselves.
