Fairhaven High School took a few minutes to remember 9-11 at its game on Friday, 9/11/26, the 25th anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks in US history. Game callers, Brian Monroe and Tony Ramous, alternated speaking a message of solemn remembrance and tribute to the 2977 people who were killed in the attacks.
Four planes were turned into weapons. Two hit the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City; one hit the Pentagon; and one landed in a field in Shanksville, PA, when the passengers realized what was happening and stormed the cockpit.
The message asked people to remember September 12, when “America stood together.”
“Twenty-five years later, we cannot change what happened. But we can decide what we do with its memory,” they said. “We can choose kindness over hatred. Service over selfishness. Unity over division. And we can remember that despite all of our differences, there is still something that connects every person standing on this field tonight. We are Americans.”
