Fairhaven’s election is on Monday, 4/7/25. Acushnet’s election is on Tuesday, 4/22/25. Nomination papers for Acushnet are still available, but Fairhaven is all closed up.

It looks like Fairhaven will have four contested elections this year. Candidates have until March 5 to withdraw, so it could change, but that is unlikely.
All candidates who pulled papers returned them and got the required number of certified signatures.
There are two people running for one seat on the Select Board: Natalie Mello and Rick Trapilo. Incumbent Stasia Powers is not running for re-election.
Fairhaven’s School Committee has four people running for two seats: Incumbents Brendalee Smith and Erik Anderson; Kelly Ochoa, Pattie Pacella.
Planning Board has three candidates for two seats: Incumbent Cathy Melanson, Sean Powers, and Miles Grant.
Board of Health has two candidates for one seat: Incumbent Brian Meneses, and Cristina Lopes.
Uncontested races are: Town Clerk, with Acting Town Clerk Elisabeth Horan the only candidate; Board of Public Works incumbent Anne Morton Smith for her seat; Trust Commissioner Barbara Acksen for her seat.
Last day to register to vote for the 4/7/25 annual town election is 3/5/25.
The polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on election day. All precincts vote at the Fairhaven Recreatioin Center, 227 Huttleston Avenue.
You may register to vote for the Annual Town Election at the Town Clerk’s office in Town Hall, 40 Center Street, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, until Friday, March 28 at 5pm. Mail-in Voter Registration Forms are available at the Town Clerk’s Office, the Millicent Library and State and Federal offices.

Acushnet
February 28 is the last day to take out nomination papers.
So far there are no contested races, but there is the possibility of a contested Selectboard race. Incumbent Robert Hinckley has taken out papers for his seat on the SB., and former police chief Christopher Richmond also took out papers. Neither one had returned them by press time.
All elected boards have seats up for reelection, including: Selectboard, Board of Assessors, Board of Health, two School Committee seats, two Commissioner of Trust seats, Cemetery Board, Park Commissioner, Planning Commissioner, Tree Warden.
Candidates must collect 42 certified signatures from registered voters.
The Town Clerk’s office will be open until 5 p.m. on the following deadline dates: 2/28/25, the last day to request; 3/4/25, the last day to file papers.
The last day to register to vote in the 4/22 election is Friday, 4/11.
