Fairhaven for All Launches Champion Inclusion & Acceptance
A new community-based movement, Fairhaven for All, has launched to foster a culture of welcome, inclusivity, and acceptance for every resident in the town of Fairhaven. Initially formed in January 2024 by local residents who came together around these values, the initiative seeks to create a stronger, more united community rooted in a sense of belonging for all.
“At a time when communities everywhere are reckoning with issues of hate and division, Fairhaven for All provides a meaningful local response,” said Melissa Batchilder, founding member of the initiative. “We believe every resident deserves to feel safe, valued, and included — and we’re committed to making that a reality.”
Meetings are held the first Monday of each month at the Millicent Library at 6 p.m.
Members of Fairhaven for All will be available at the Aug. 16 Open Air Market (Booth #51) at Livesey Park to answer questions and share information.
Fairhaven for All is guided by six core commitments:
• Swift, visible Rapid Response to hate incidents
• Community Engagement in aligned activities
• Advocacy for inclusive policies and practices
• A growing Repository of Resources
• Public Solidarity with marginalized voices
• Building a Safe and Supportive Space for all to thrive
“Fairhaven for All isn’t just about responding to hate — it’s about cultivating hope,” added Batchilder. “We’re here to spark conversations, lift voices, and show up for one another.”
Residents, organizations, and civic leaders are invited to connect with Fairhaven for All, attend upcoming meetings, and support its mission to ensure that everyone — regardless of background, identity, or experience — knows they belong in Fairhaven.
