Fairhaven film maker to screen film at Town hall

September 22, 2021 by Staff Writer

“To Dust All Return” is the latest short film by Fairhaven native Alyssa Botelho; it will be screened on 10/1/21 at Fairhaven Town Hall. Graphic submitted.

Press Release

Fairhaven TV is hosting a second short film screening with Fairhaven filmmaker Alyssa Botelho in the Fairhaven Town Hall auditorium on October 1st at 7 p.m. for her new short film To Dust All Return. A Q&A with the writer/director, producer, costume designer, and director of photography will follow. This free event is modeled after the first, a screening of Alyssa’s college film, Junkie, in January of 2020.

As Alyssa is a graduate of the Fairhaven High School Media Production program, she wishes to give the community a first, exclusive look at her latest project, To Dust All Return, which has been submitted to film festivals worldwide.

A great way to kick off the spooky Halloween season, it’s a nine-minute piece set in early 1700s New England focusing on a girl with a secret who’s interrogated by a powerful man who suspects her of witchcraft.

Capturing the tense atmosphere of New England during the witch trials, it explores the nature of good vs. evil, the power dynamics between men and women in this time, and the lengths someone will go to make things “right” again.

New York City actress Paulina Knaak, The Actor’s Foundry trained David Prottas, and SAG-AFTRA actor Duncan Putney play the roles of Amity Smith, Enoch Adley, and John Smith, respectively. The crew consists of University of Rhode Island students, alumni, and local New England filmmaking professionals.

This screening format has proven itself to be a great evening of community connection, recognition of the Fairhaven High School Media Production program, and a celebration of the arts.

More details about the film on the Facebook page @ToDustAllReturn and IMDB page (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14735336/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1).

To ensure a safe event, the audience will be capped at 100 attendants and the mask mandate will be enforced.
