Fairhaven eight-year-old to compete in national pageant

Miss Elmire Arsenault, daughter of Kelli and Peter Arsenault, has earned the opportunity to attend the National American Miss National Pageant through her successfully scored event, Top Model, at the Southern New England State Final pageant held in July.

The National Pageant is to be held in Anaheim, CA, at Disneyland during Thanksgiving week, where Elmire will be representing the great state of Massachusetts and the Town of Fairhaven.

The National American Miss Pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the National American Miss Pageants awards 1.5 million dollars in cash, scholarships, and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide. National American Miss is dedicated to developing the success of young women across our nation with a program that is designed to be age-appropriate and family oriented.Pageants are held in each state for girls ages four to eighteen in five different age divisions.

The National American Miss Pageants are for “Today’s Girl” and “Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation, and offers an “All American Spirit” of fun for family and friends. Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-con­fidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition, and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future!

To raise money to participate in the pageant, Elmire has been making and selling artwork (mainly cyano­type prints and canvas splatter paintings), which she has sold at various events in the region.

She will be at the Fairhaven Farmers Market, 151 Alden Road, on Sunday, 9/30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
