Fairhaven Fire and Police departments were called out just after Midnight on 9/19 for a single-car crash on Howland Road. On arrival, two occupants were found trapped in the car, and the vehicle was on fire.
The fire was extinguished by the Police Department using fire extinguishers.
The driver was extricated immediately and transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Fairhaven Fire Paramedics.
The passenger was severely trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. Boston Medflight landed at Livesey Park, assisted at the scene, and transported the passenger to Rhode Island Hospital.
Both occupants had severe injuries but did not appear to be life-threatening.
The accident is under investigation by the Fairhaven Police Department.
