The outdoor events are kicking into high gear. This weekend the Huttlestwon Marketplace starts its season; there’s a townwide yard sale; and the Blessig of the Bikes. See pages 5, 6, 7 for more happenings. 

Huttleston Marketplace

Saturdays, May 18 through Septem­ber 28, 2024 (except last Saturday in June), 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Fairhaven Visitors Center Lawn/ Fairhaven High School Lawn, 141 Main Street, at Route 6, Fairhaven

Huttleston Marketplace is an outdoor bazaar featuring as many as 90 or more vendors selling select hand made arts and crafts, quality antiques and vintage collectibles, upcycled items, fresh farm produce, and locally prepared foods.

On the first Saturday of June, July, August, and September, we are scheduling special Kids Day activities including MR. ViNNY’s Giant Puppets, the Millicent Library’s Book Bike with story times, and more.

Fairhaven Town-Wide Yard Sale Day

Saturday, May 18, 2024, times of yard sales vary (Rain Date, Sunday, May 19. Throughout Fairhaven, MA

This annual community yard sale day is being sponsored and organized by the Old Town Fairhaven group on Facebook for the fourth year. Yard sales will be set up throughout the town.

Blessing of the Bikes

The 23rd annual Blessing of the Bikes by St. Joseph School in Fairhaven is this Sun., 5/19, beginning at Fort Phoenix State Reservation in Fairhaven, rear parking lot. 

Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Kickstands up at noon. From Ft. Phoenix, ride to St. Joseph Church for the blessing, then a two-hour ride through scenic backroads, ending at Knuckleheads Bar & Grill, 85 MacArthur Dr., New Bedford, for a BBQ and live music. Rain Date 5/26. $20 per bike. 

Proceeds benefit St. Joseph School. 

Bike & Brew: Little Free Library Tour

Sat., 5/18, 10:30 a..m. Meet at Millicent Library, 45 Center St., Fairahven. Join  the Fairhaven Livable Streets Committee as we take a tour of Fairhaven’s Little Free Libraries! We’ll meet at Millicent Library for a welcome talk and tour led by Allison Thiel, Millicent’s Youth Librarian, and Laura Gardner, Librarian at Dart­mouth Public Schools, and whose family hosts one of Fairhaven’s Little Free Libraries. As always, this is a slower cruise designed for all ages & abilities.

Our ride will end at the recently-reopened Ice Cream Cottage at 12 Ferry Street for a sweet treat. And they do sell both coffee ice cream & iced coffee if you’d like to stay true to the “Brew” in our event name!

Reminders: Riders under 17 must wear a helmet. Riders are responsible for their own bikes. Please bring some water & sunscreen.
