This Spring the Fairhaven Sustainability Committee again participated in Earth Day EcoChallenge. The challenge was extended this year to a 30-day environmental and social engagement program. From April 1–April 30, participants selected actions to take that aligned with their individual values and made a 30-day commitment to complete those actions, all the while practicing and reinforcing good habits. For every action that was completed, participants earned points and created impact. All the points contributed to your team’s total points, and individual impacts contributed to our collective impact.
TEAM SOUTHCOAST had another successful year with 153 participants earning 17,062 points and coming in number 13 out of 818 teams across the country and number 1 in Massachusetts.
We were very excited to participate all month long and know that many members will continue to practice new actions that were started in this very successful program.
If you missed the Spring challenge, you can start in July when everyone can participate in the Plastic Free EcoChallenge. Plastic Free Ecochallenge is a month-long effort for all of us to reduce our single-use plastic consumption in creative and innovative ways while still prioritizing public health and safety during this pandemic.
Look for more information on the town’s website or visit https://plasticfree.ecochallenge.org to join Team SouthCoast.
