New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park will host an eclipse party at the visitor center on August 21. New Bedford will experience a partial eclipse of the sun on August 21 from 1:29-3:01 pm, with peak shadow at 2:48 pm. There will be an area set up in their garden space during that time and a limited number of eclipse glasses for people to use. The glasses will be offered to visitors of the National Park on that day starting at 1:25 PM. In addition, pinhole cameras will be used to observe the shadow of the moon crossing the sun. The National Park’s visitor center is located at 33 William St., in downtown New Bedford. These events are family friendly and free.
