Same Old Same Old
Dear Frankie,
The variety of food my family eats every day is mind-boggling. They never eat the same thing two days in a row. One day it’s pancakes, cereal, or eggs for breakfast, sandwiches, soup, a salad for lunch, stews, roasts, or takeout from various ethnic restaurants, for dinner.
They also eat all kinds of fruits and vegetables in between meals. They believe a well-balanced diet is essential for one’s well-being.
So, being a family member, I would think that they would also feed me a varied diet. But they don’t. I get the same bland meal every day, rain or shine. The only time I get any variety in my diet is when the pet store runs out of my brand of kibble. Then they pick up something similar.
Don’t you think they would notice how boring it is for me to eat the same food day after day?
Cosmo
Dear Cosmo,
You would think they would notice. The lack of variety in meals is a complaint I get from many of my readers. It seems dog owners have been told, probably by the commercials on TV, that kibble is the most nutritious food for dogs. If that’s true, you wonder why we see so many recalls from dog food companies because of toxic ingredients.
My only advice is to keep your eye out for crumbs on the floor and forgotten snacks left on the coffee table. When you go to canine birthday parties, I suggest you head for the front of the line when the food is served so you can go back for seconds.
Best, Frankie
