Big Dog Dilemma
Dear Frankie,
You can’t imagine how difficult it is to find fashionable dog apparel in sizes XX-Large or, heaven forbid, XXX-Large.
Invariably, the salesperson at the dog shop will suggest sites for canine catalogs that carry plus sizes. Nothing infuriates me more than being referred to a catalog for overweight canines: of which I am not one. If truth be told, for a St. Bernard, my weight leans towards the lighter side of my breed.
Surely, I can’t be the only large-sized female that enjoys shopping with a girlfriend, trying on clothes, and getting a semi-honest opinion. Dog apparel is a big business. You would think in 2022; there would be some clever designer and entrepreneur that would respond to a market just panting to spend a bundle. If you know of any stores for statuesque fashionistas my size, I would appreciate it if you would drop me a note.
Georgiana
Dear Georgiana,
I understand it took years for human clothing manufacturers to catch on that there was a big market for tall, chubby, and plus-size women. Humans think a woman can never be rich enough or thin enough.
Have you ever looked through a fancy house magazine? They all have big kitchens equipped for a cooking school. What cracks me up is the picture of the lady of the house lounging on the couch wearing a size 2 outfit and not wearing shoes. You would think if she could afford a home like that, she would at least have one pair of shoes.
Do they think anyone is dumb enough to think that this little woman is cooking in that kitchen? Really, how much cooking does it take to put lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes in a bowl?
Here’s the deal, humans do not value large, hefty, oversized people or dogs. So, it’s no surprise about the lack of dog apparel for gals like yourself. Perhaps you could spruce up your collar with a bow or look through your mom’s junk jewelry box for a rhinestone or pearl necklace.
Maybe your letter will motivate a reader to start a company.
Best, Frankie
