Do All TV’s Report the Same News?
Dear Frankie,
I asked the dogs at the park if their families were upset as mine about wearing masks, because of the recent spike in Covid cases.
Lily asked, “Where did they hear that?”
I said, “We heard the doctor from the government say it on the evening news.”
She said, “That’s weird. We watch the news every night and we never saw that doctor talking about wearing masks again.”
I asked her, “What kind of TV do you have?”
She said, “We have a Samsung; How about you?”
I said, “We have a Sony.”
We figured the reason we don’t get the same news was we had different kinds of TVs. Are we right, Frankie?
Archie
Dear Archie,
I can understand why you might think that the brand of your TV might be the reason you don’t get the same news. It’s a good guess; however, that’s not the reason why the program you and Lily’s family watch doesn’t report the same news.
There are many TV news programs. Any TV can tune into any of these programs. Not all these programs however view Covid or how humans should respond to the spike in COVID cases in the same way.
If you think about it, it’s like the ads for dog food. Not all dog food companies view the nutritional needs of dogs in the same way or the kind of food that is healthiest for dogs.
Viewers like your parents and Lily’s know there are different kinds of news programs and dog foods to choose from. Therefore, they buy the food and watch the programs they believe offers what is best for them.
Best, Frankie
