The Proposal
Dear Frankie,
My sister Hope moved back home last month. Steve, the guy she is engaged to and has been living with for four years, told her he wasn’t ready to set a wedding date.
Since she left Steve, he has been calling, begging her to come back. He told her he is miserable without her and thinks they should get married.
Hope isn’t sure if Steve wants to marry her or is just saying he does so that she will move back in with him.
What do you think, Frankie?
Celeste
Dear Celeste,
I don’t know Steve, so I can’t say if he means what he says or if he’s trying to con her into coming back. But if your sister wants to find out, all she has to do is tell Steve that if he is sincere about getting married, he should set a date. She will then plan the wedding from the comfort of her parents’ home.
In other words, she is not moving back without a marriage certificate and a ring on her finger. Sometimes you have to take a stand to get what you want, or at least to find out if it’s possible.
Best, Frankie
