Announcing my first Book
Dear Faithful Readers of this column, Frankie is so happy to announce that her first book has been published on Amazon, entitled “Dear Frankie: What Dogs Really Think.” It’s a collection of some of our favorite columns.
Just go to Amazon.com and search for “Dear Frankie” under books. Available for Kindle ($6.99) and in hardcover ($19.99).
The Neighb News will definitely have more on this next week. We had to keep it short this week because it is breaking news!
Now, for our weekly column…
Righting the Wrong
Dear Frankie,
Luna and Pixie ran for president at our doggy daycare center. I didn’t know who they were, so I asked Lucy if she knew them. She said she didn’t but heard that Luna was a real jerk and stuck up.
When my friends asked me who I was voting for, I told them that Luna was a loser and a snob, so I planned on voting for Pixie. When Pixie won the election, my mom seemed surprised. She had volunteered in several of Luna’s classes and told me she found her to be an exceptionally kind, considerate, and bright student.
I am so sorry that I listened to Lucy and repeated what she said about Luna to my friends. I’m sure that is the reason she lost the election.
Is there anything I can do to make it up to her?
Lucas
Dear Lucas,
Unfortunately, you can’t undo the harm you have done to Luna.
I once heard a story about a mother who asked her daughter to squeeze all the toothpaste out of the tube. When the girl did, the mother told her to put the toothpaste back into the tube. The girl said she couldn’t because it was impossible to put the toothpaste back in a tube once it was out.
The mother told her daughter words were like toothpaste once spoken; you also couldn’t take them back.
The story’s moral is that words can make or break someone’s reputation. So, you need to think before you speak and be sure of what you are talking about before you offer an opinion about anyone or, for that matter, anything.
Best, Frankie
