Halloween Candy
Dear Frankie,
My friends and I talked about the kind of Halloween Candy we like. Snickers and Milky Ways were the favorites, but Skittles, M&M’s, and Reese’s Pieces were up there.
Josie said her older brother Roger told her that besides Halloween candy being bad for your teeth, it could also make you sick enough to go to the hospital. He heard last year some bad people who hated kids put poison and razors in the vats where the candy was made. Roger said if she and her friends wanted to go out for trick or treat, for fun, we should, but we shouldn’t eat the candy. He said he would be willing to collect our candy at the end of the night and safely dispose of it so no animal, bird, or kid could find it and mistakenly eat it. Wasn’t that nice of him?
Peewee
Dear Peewee,
I have to hand it to Josie’s brother. He’s some smooth operator.
Peewee, he was not being honest. He is tricking her and all of you by scaring you. He is collecting your candy for himself.
Maybe you could trick him back. How about you tell him that you and your friends plan to put your candy into one bag to make it easier for him? Then, fill a bag with candy wrappers, small pebbles, and a note that says TRICK, signed by all of you. I would like to see the expression on his face when he opens that bag.
Best, Frankie
