Ruy DaSilva told the Fairhaven Selectboard on Monday night, 2/27, that he would withdraw his name from the ballot for Planning Board because the Selectboard appointed him to the Zoning Board of Appeals.
The ZBA had an opening after Keith Silvia resigned to be appointed to the Board of Public Works, replacing Kathy Sturtevant.
Mr. DaSilva’s withdrawal from the race means there are no contested races on the April 3 ballot.
On Tuesday afternoon, 2/28, Jarod Lussier withdrew his name as a candidate for the BPW, citing personal reasons, resulting in an empty spot on the ballot.
Geoffrey Haworth, a former BPW member and former Selectboard member, has decided to run a write-in campaign for Mr. Lussier’s seat.
The deadline for submitting nomination papers to be on the ballot was 2/13. The last day to withdraw was 3/1.
