Crazy weather, including wild variations in temperature, torrential rains, and heavy winds, have taken their toll on the roads. Highway Department crews are out patching holes and fixing roads. On West Island, the heavy rains caused large holes where the dirt roads, such as Littleneck and Fisherman, meet the paved roads, such as Balsam and Alder. Crews were out grading the dirt roads and patching holes, said Public Works Superintendent Vinnie Furtado.
