Carousel Family Fun Center mixed a little skating fun with some good-deed-doing this week.
The “Winter Sisters Skate” featured Princess Anna and Snow Queen Elsa from “Frozen,” Miss New Bedford and Miss New Bedford Outstanding Teen, who all joined the children on the floor on Monday. School was out because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, so several families took advantage of an indoor activity at the Fairhaven skating rink. Outside, temperatures hovered in the mid-20s.
Owner Charlene Conway said a portion of all proceeds collected from 10 a.m. to noon would be donated to Harbor House Family Center of New Bedford, which is a homeless shelter for families, and helps transition them into permanent housing.
Although the parents may have known about the charitable aspect of the morning, the children were all about the skating and the princesses.
Wynter Gildae seemed… dare we say it…enchanted with Princess Anna and Snow Queen Elsa. Wynter said she has seen the movie “Frozen,” thought it was “cool,” and liked her local Anna a lot.

“She is so nice,” said Wynter.
Twins Alex and Abby went prepared for their encounter with the princesses. Abby dressed up as Anna, and Alex dressed up as Kristoff.

Meighread Dandeneau, who works for Princesses of New Bedford, was Miss New Bedford Outstanding Teen in 2015, and was hanging out with her fellow princesses.
“You can’t run away from the princess life,” said Ms. Dandeneau.
