Car crashes into house causing gas leak

According to a Facebook post on the Acushnet Police Department page, on Tuesday 8/27, at approximately 1 p.m., the Acushnet Police Department, Acushnet Fire & EMS Department, and the Fairhaven Police Department responded to the area of South Main Street and Anthony Street for a single car motor vehicle accident into a dwelling. The accident ruptured the natural gas service which forced the shutdown of South Main Street and an area evacuation.

“Luckily, nobody was injured!! Thank you to all the agencies that assisted!! The accident is still under investigation!” wrote the department on Facebook.

This car crashed into a building on in Acushnet, near the Fairhaven line on 8/27/19, and caused a gas line to rupture, requiring evacuations. No injuries were reported. Photo from the Acushnet Police Department Facebook page.
