Author Susan Orlean writes a “riveting” account of unsolved arson-the Los Angeles Public Library fire of 1986 called the “Library Book.”
The fire raged for over 7 hours, reaching temperatures of 2,000 degrees and consuming over 4,000 books and damaging 7,000 more. The author hoped to discover the cause of the fire.
The book will be discussed at Fairhaven’s Millicent Library, 45 Center St. Fairhaven, on Thursday, October 21 at 10 a.m., in the library’s meeting room accessible through the Walnut Street entrance.
The discussion is free and open to the public. The book is available at the library or through the library’s website, www.millicentlibrary. For more information call Norma Markey at 508-993-3745.
