Book Fair to showcase authors, house tour to showcase homes

Millicent Library Book Fair

The third annual Millicent’s Book Fair, at the Millicent Library, 45 Center St., Fairhaven, on Saturday, Dec. 8, will welcome visitors to the Old Time Holiday Fair with free coffee at 9:30 and a chance to meet local authors and buy signed copies of their books. Visitors will also have a chance to win books by First Ladies Michelle Obama, Abigail Adams, and Louisa Catherine Adams, as well as a gift book for children.

The authors will be selling their books in the auditorium. Readings will begin at 11:45 on the first floor. Genres include science fiction, young adult, self-help, and history. 

Participating authors include Sandi Montour (This or That?), James Marlow (Babylon After, Once We Were Sioux, Auras), R. M. Clark (The Ticktock Man, The Secret at Haney Field, Center Point), Kristy Acevedo (Consider, Contribute), Ray Bartlett (Sunsets of Tulum, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, & Nantucket), Bob Demanche (The Last of the Fairhaven Coasters), Eddie Doherty (Seven Miles After Sundown: Surfcasting for Striped Bass), Sharon Wood (Born Again, Again and so much more) and a variety of books about the South Coast from Spinner.

The fair is sponsored by the Friends of the Millicent Library, a volunteer group that supports the library’s mission by holding events, paying for summer programs and museum passes, and buying needed equipment. All funds raised at the fair will go toward these efforts.

Schedule of author readings:

• 11:45:  Eddie Doherty, Seven Miles After Sundown

• 12:10: Ray Bartlett, Sunsets of Tulum; Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, & Nantucket

• 12:30: Sharon Wood, Born Again, Again and so much more

• 12:50: Sandi Montour, This or That? Over 200 Conversation-Sparking Choices from the Whimsical to the Philosophical

• 1:10 : James Marlow, Babylon After, Once We Were Sioux, Auras

• 1:30: Catherine McLaughlin, Blue Collars

Holiday House Tour

The Fairhaven Historical Society presents a holiday tour of historical houses and other buildings of interest. 

Part of the Old-Time Holiday weekend, the self-guided house tour will take place on Sunday 12/9, from 1 to 4 p.m. Starts at Fairhaven Academy Building, 141 Main Street.

Advance tickets will be available at the Millicent Library or the Euro/Phoenix store. 

Tickets will also be available at the Town Hall Shops on Saturday, December 8. On the day of the tour, tickets are available at the Academy Building, 141 Main Street, where the tour starts.
