The Paskamansett Bird Club’s first meeting of 2019 will be on Wed., 1/9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Hall of Friends Meeting, 739 Horseneck Rd, So. Dartmouth. Jonathan Eckerson will speak about his recent summer, spent working as a field technician on the plains of Kansas.
Jonathan Eckerson is a young birder from Southeastern Mass. who has already been avidly pursuing birds for the past seven years. He is currently enrolled at the University of Mass./Amherst, where he focuses on Wildlife Ecology and continues to follow his passion for birds and the environment. He will be talking about his experiences this past summer, when he worked in Kansas as a field technician, conducting field ecology studies on the plains of Kansas.
His project entailed studying the effects of cattle grazing on Conservation Reservation Program lands. He says, “From nearly getting struck by lightning to more flat-tire stories than you care to hear, it was a roller coaster of a summer!”
The meeting is free, open to the public, and accessible.
