The bike path extension in Mattapoisett is well under way. Phase 1B is now finished, and Phase 2B
Without your generous donations, this construction would not be possible.
We’re now working on Phase 2B: The Mattapoisett-Marion Connector and are asking for donations to help us finish.
When writing out your seasonal charitable checks, please consider the “Friends of the Mattapoisett Rail Trail” and mail it to P.O. Box 1336, Mattapoisett, MA 02739. Or you can make an online donation through our GoFundMe page: www.gofundme. com/the-mattapoisettmarion-connection.
We are a 501c3 (tax deductible) organization!
Please visit our website at http://www.mattapoisettrailtrail.org for more information.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward design and construction of a paved half mile (away from traffic!) that will run parallel to Industrial Drive and eventually connect to Marion’s anticipated bike path.
Background
In November 2019, the Friends Board of Directors committed funds already raised ($50,000) to ensure we keep up design momentum and deliver the 75% design report and cost estimate in time to include them in the 2020 round of grants. State grants typically include a local match, so your continued support directly helps us win grants.
We have set our total goal at $100,000 in order to also help the Town with costs for a safe crossing at North Street and for trail amenities. The bike path design is at least 25% of the design cost for the Town’s entire Industrial Drive project.
Please visit our website at http://www.mattapoisettrailtrail.org/ for exciting updates on Phase 1B “Shining Tides” construction, and for more information about the Marion Connector.
The eastern end of the Mattapoisett Rail Trail connects to the Phoenix Bike Path in Fairhaven. Very soon, you will be able to use the bike paths to get from the harbor in Fairhaven to Marion Center, all off the road.
