On Saturday, 8/29 8:00 AM-10:00 PM, The New Bedford Starchasers will launch a 100-mile bicycle ride around Buttonwood Park, Rockdale Ave., NB, to collect back-to-school supplies for students in need.
Bring donations of new unopened school supplies to any of the five drop boxes, located around the park. The supplies will be collected by riders throughout the day and distributed to students through United Way of Greater New Bedford and the New Bedford Public Schools’ Family Welcome Center after the event. Can’t make it to the event? Pledge your support by visiting the fundraiser page at Operation Backpack School Supply Ride (https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/operationbackpack)
Prizes will be awarded to those riders who complete a total of 42 laps through the park, but participants can drop-in and drop-out for any amount of time.
