Your Theatre, Inc. is holding auditions on 11/27 at 7:30 p.m. and 12/2 at 2:30 pm, for roles in the upcoming March production of “Kindertransport” by Diane Samuels. Auditions are open to all actors over the age of 16. Rehearsals will begin in early January. Auditions will consist of a cold reading from the script. Director Edward J. Maguire is casting for the following (with stage ages):
EVELYN: English middle-class woman. Well spoken. In her 40s/50s.
FAITH: Evelyn’s only child. In her 20s.
EVA: Evelyn’s younger self. She starts the play at nine years old and finishes it at seventeen years old. The actor’s STAGE AGE will be in the 18–25 range. At times she speaks with a German accent and a number of lines in German. We will have dialect coach available. She will speak with more of an English Accent as the play progresses.
HELGA: Eva’s mother. Middle class German Jewish woman of the 1930s. Begins the play in her 30s, ends it 8 years older. Speaks in German accent at times, help will be given.
LIL: Eva/Evelyn’s foster mother. Switches from being in her 30/40s to her 70/80s and back, sometimes in the same scene. Manchester/ northern accent useful but not essential.
THE RATCATCHER: A mythical character who also plays THE BORDER GUARD, THE
ENGLISH ORGANISER, THE POSTMAN, THE STATION GUARD. Adult Male.
