It is with great pleasure that we are announcing the reopening of the New Bedford Art Museum/ArtWorks! galleries and shop in accordance with Phase 3 of Governor Baker’s Reopening Massachusetts Plan.
The Art Museum will open its doors to all visitors starting Saturday, August 15th with restrictions in place to maintain the health and safety of our visitors and staff.
Our reopening will be on a reduced schedule (Thursday – Sunday, 10 AM – 4 AM) with a maximum capacity of twelve (12) guests allowed in the Art Museum galleries every 60 minutes. NBAM will continue to monitor federal and state guidance and adjustments issued to the phased plan.
Steps have been taken to provide a safe environment for our employees, visitors, and volunteers. In addition to increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols, we are investing in facility changes. Updates include a timed ticket entrance model, a clearly marked directional flow of the galleries, white-gloved shopping, and extensive signage to help visitors experience our spaces safely.
The reopening of NBAM also marks the debut of a new summer exhibit, Pastoral Light, Presented in collaboration with DATMA’s Light 2020 and curated by New Bedford Free Public Library ’s Art Curator Allie Copeland, this exhibition is on view from August 6, 2020 – January 10, 2021. The exhibition will feature 19th-century landscapes from the New Bedford Free Public Library’s collection. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
