Christopher Paiva grew up in New Bedford on County Street. He works as a Psychiatric Nursing Supervisor at Southcoast Behavioral Health. He has always enjoyed growing plants and he learned much of what he knows from his grandmother (vovo). She grew the most beautiful African violets. It wasn’t until ten years ago that he began to grow African violets in his own home. Later on he joined the Bay State African Violet Society. He is a member of the African Violet Society of America (AVSA). He has won Best in Show in 2017 for his African violet and many blue ribbons, and placed 2nd nationally for an article titled, “Making the Greens while Working in the Workplace” by the AVSA. Christopher Paiva has been highlighted in Fairhaven Neighborhood News for his African violet plants.
