The Acushnet Selectboard recognized the coaches and players of two Acushet Youth Soccer teams that both won the South Shore Soccer League championship and made it to the Final Four in the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions. The Boys 7/8 Division 1 and Boys 12/Post Grad Division 1 both finished in the top 4, and the Boys 12/PG also received the state sportsmanship award at the tournament.
At its 8/8/23 meeting, the board handed out citations to all the players and the coaches of the two teams.
Selectboard member David Wojnar said it was great to see the accomplishments on the soccer field, but what impressed him most, he said, is how Acushnet players “always handle themselves.”
The citation notes the “excpetional athletic excellence” of the players and coaches.
The teams then posed for a group photo with the coaches and board members on the steps of Acushnet Town Hall.
