The Acushnet Police Department welcomed a new officer to the ranks when Justin Melo was officially sworn in on 3/22/26.
“Please join Chief Gary S. Coppa and the members of the Acushnet Police Department in welcoming our newest Full-time Patrol Officer, Justin Melo!!!” the Acushnet Police Department posted on its Facebook page. “With family and members of the department present, Ofc. Melo was officially sworn in today by Acushnet Town Clerk Pam Labonte. Ofc. Melo comes to the APD as a much needed lateral transfer from the Rochester Police Department.”
Officer Melo began a brief training program immediately.
“So be on the look-out and make sure to say Hi!!!!!” read the post. “Welcome Ofc. Melo!!!!”
