In a record short meeting, all of 12 minutes, the Acushnet Selectboard met on Tuesday, May 1, to accept a letter of resignation from Town Treasurer/Collector Kristie Costa.
Chairperson Michael Cioper read that Ms. Costa’s last day would be May 11, 2018 and wished her well in her new position with another Town.
The Selectboard also reviewed a right of entry agreement with 5 Cushman Street and the Board of Public Works.
Town Administrator Brian Noble explained that because the BPW has the equipment to fix the water pipes on the private property, they would fix it and the resident would be charged.
Selectboard member Roger Cabral asked why the Town was getting involved with the task.
Mr. Noble said that in essence they are helping a resident and protecting the Town’s water supply. There would be a charge to the resident for time and materials.
In other business, the board approved a transfer of an all alcholic beverage license from JT’s Pub, (Robert Taylor, Manager) to Gonsalves Group LLC, dba JT’s Pub, (Kevin Gonsalves, Manager).
The Selectboard also approved the non-union employees contracts.
Finally, Mr. Noble spoke about all the advertising that was being done in the Town for the May 14, 2018 Town Meeting. He said there would be A-frame signs with the information up at intersections, the Town Board already had the event listed, and there would be advertisements in the local newspaper.
The Selectboard had planned on convening in Executive Session, however board member Kevin Gaspar stated they could not because on the agenda there was not an explanation to what they would be discussin in executive session. At that, the Selectboard adjourned their meeting.
