Posted on Facebook on 2/23 by the Acushnet Fire/EMS: In January, 2017, we placed into service Rescue #1 which replaced an ambulance purchased in 2006. Today we place into service Rescue #2 which replaces an ambulance purchased in 2001. Two new ambulances in two years is a very big deal for which we are very, very thankful to the people of Acushnet. February 21, 2018: STATEMENT FROM FIRE CHIEF KEVIN GALLAGHER: “I am very pleased to report that the Town of Acushnet is in the process of purchasing a ladder truck from the Town of Lexington. This 100′ E-One Cyclone (pre-piped) was built in 2000 and has been meticulously maintained by the Lexington Fire Department. Acushnet has never had a ladder truck before.
This important piece of apparatus will provide a much safer working platform for our firefighters. Safety first! “On behalf of all the men and women of the department I want to thank the Acushnet Board of Selectmen for authorizing the $40,000 payment.
These tax dollars will be reimbursed by revenue collected from insurance companies for EMS transports thus reducing the burden to the taxpayer. We expect to take delivery of ‘Acushnet Ladder 1’ very soon. We will then train, train and train some more.”
