Don’t panic, Acushnet residents, if you’re seeing your local police officers with a little peach fuzz or a full blown beard.
The department has joined first responders across Massachusetts for Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Mass. General Hospital program. Each officer who is growing a beard will donate $100 to the cause.
The mission of Home Base is to heal the invisible wounds for Veterans, Service Members and their Families through world-class clinical care, wellness, education and research.

As of press time, the page had received $75 in donations.
