Local Author at Acushnet Library
The Acushnet Public Library welcomes local author East End Eddie Doherty. He will share his book, Seven Miles After Sundown, Surfcasting for Striped Bass along the World Famous Cape Cod Canal.
Relive a colorful account of one man’s quest in the pursuit of striped bass while surfcasting along the rocky banks of the world famous Cape Cod Canal.
Included are personal stories, humorous anecdotes and breathtaking photographs by highly acclaimed and widely renowned photographer John Doble. Enjoy detailed fishing strategies and in-depth interviews with some of the legendary anglers who have contributed to making the Canal a well-known surfcaster’s paradise. See why people travel a great distance not only to fish, but to walk, run and ride bikes down the service roads bordering the powerful currents of the storied Cape Cod Canal.
Eddie Doherty fished the East End of the Cape Cod Canal so often that other fishermen started calling him East End Eddie. Thus, a nickname and pen name were born together.
The author, a retired Clerk-Magistrate, has fished the warm currents of the Gulf of Mexico as well as the powerful Atlantic surf pounding the rugged coast of Maine. He has surf cast along the striper coast all the way down to the clear tropical inlets of the Florida Keys.
Doherty has been published in “Cape Cod Magazine,” “On The Water,” “The Fisherman Magazine,” “Cape Cod Times,” “The Boston Globe,” “The Sun Chronicle,” “Coastal Angler Magazine” and the “Congressional Record.” This is his first book.
The author talk will take place on Monday*, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. This free event will be held in the Library Community Room at 232 Middle Road, Acushnet. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Acushnet Public Library.
