From Acushnet Fire & EMS Department Facebook Page
THIS IS US
On February 3, the Acushnet Fire Department started a new feature on its Facebook page to introduce each of their members to the public. This week we meet Michael Leger.
Call Firefighter Michael Leger is a man of many skills, all of which are put to good use by the department. His father, Paul Leger, a long-time Acushnet resident, served the New Bedford Fire Department for over 30 years, the final years of his career as Chief. Mike joined our department in 2011 upon graduating from the Call Firefighter Recruit Program in Fall River.
Firefighter Leger is our very own “Rocketman” having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Space Systems Engineering. While living in Florida, Mike worked on the Space Shuttle project (and had the honor of meeting Astronaut Jim Lovell from Apollo 13, “Houston, we have a problem”) and now works in Burlington on a space project involving a high orbit satellite.
When back on earth, Mike Leger also serves the town as a part-time EMT. His calm, thoughtful manner proves a real asset during emergency situations. By the way, Mike isn’t done with school yet! He is currently enrolled in Paramedic training and will soon bring those skills to the residents of our community.
Acushnet, this is Michael Leger.
