On February 3, the Acushnet Fire Department started a new feature on its Facebook page to introduce each of their members to the public. This week we meet Lauren Magalhaes.
Lauren Magalhaes is new to being an EMT Basic and new to our department. Lauren joined us this past December after becoming an EMT in 2018. Usually we look for our new employees to have a few more years under their belt before responding to 9-1-1 calls. But there was something about Lauren that told us she was going to fit right in.
This 2015 graduate of Old Colony proved her commitment the very first week she worked. Lauren offered to work on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after, usually very tough part-time shifts to fill. Her performance here in town, as well as in Freetown where she is a Call-EMT, is spot on. She has impressed us with her “never stop learning” attitude, a quality we love.
Next up for Lauren, Paramedic school!
