Temperatures dropped down into the low 30s this Sunday, 12/1/24, but that did not stop the hardy souls on about 30 motorcycles who joined the Acushnet Lions Club in the annual Motorcycle Run and Toy Drive for the Shepherd’s Pantry in Acushnet.
As in past years, the ride started at the River’s End. New owners, Ernie & Jo Jo Medeiros, who bought the bar a few months ago, have not changed anything. They owned a similar establishment in Florida, they said, and are happy to support the Lions and continue with the traditions that the River’s End has been involved in.
“There’s no sense in changing a good thing,” said Ernie.
Former owner and Lions Club member, Mark DeSilva had a list of people to thank for the event, including Adams & Adams for use of their truck; Rep/Weld; and Seabra Foods for food donations; the Adam Taylor Foundation for donation of toys; and, of course, the volunteers and bikers who donated $10 or a toy/nonperishable food item.
The Acushnet Lions Club has been operating for 66 years. Find them on Facebook to learn more.
