The Acushnet Council on Aging and the Department of Public Works teamed up to give children and their adults a spooky time on Halloween weekend.
Acushnett Police Officer Louann Jenkinson said the DPW guys gave up their weekend and “did one heckuva job” decorating the woods with spooky characters and even being the actors in the woods.
The Salvation Army gave away hot chocolate on both Friday and Saturday, 10/28 & 10/29, and also gave away free hot dogs on Friday. Inside kids got candy and other giveaways. The event was 100% free for participants. Approximately 800 people took advantage of activities.
“It was a great community thing,” said Ms. Jenkinson, emphasizing that the DPW workers did all the heavy lifting. “I think they should get the credit for this. They did a fantastic job.”
