The town of Acushnet will hold a free large item curbside pick-up in May to assist residents with their residential spring clean-up. Residents are allowed to place limit of three items per residential address. Commercial/business addresses are NOT included.
Items will be collected on three Saturdays in May. If your regular trash pickup day is Monday or Tuesday, the pickup date is Sat., 5/2; if regular trash day is Wednesday or Thursdayi, the pickup day is Sat., 5/9; if your regular trash day is Friday, pickup day is Sat., 5/16.
Residents must have large bulky items out by 6 a.m. on pickup day.
The DPW will be running a special truck for bulk items. If you experience a missed collection, a recovery call must be made within 24 hours, at 508-998-0230. The DPW will be be taking calls on each of the Saturdays.
Eligible items include: Mattresses (dry), box springs, sofas, stuffed chairs, carpets (must be rolled and either cut in half or tied in half), construction debris, electronics, furniture, tires (on or off rim), propane tanks, white goods (washer, dryer, stove refrigerator, water heater, etc.), televisions, computer monitors/towers, air conditioners, large metal items (grill, microwave oven, aluminum lawn chair, swing set, bicycle, file cabinet, etc.), bundled wood (not greater thatn four feet in length), etc.
Items NOT included: hazardoius waste (light bulbs, paint thinner, anti-freeze, engine oil, batteries, etc.), yard waste, or any household items that would normally fit inside your collecton cart.
