Fairhaven held its first HarborFest, Mom’s Day by the Bay, on Saturday, 5/20/25, with threatening skies overhead, and a bit of a muddy mess underneath. The heavy rain the day before left the ground at Grimshaw Park a bit muddy, but that did not stop vendors or the public from having a great time.
Some of the young’uns even took to splashing around in the mud. A new attraction, perhaps?
Activities included food trucks, vendors booths, educational booths, pony rides, a doggie kissing booth, games for kids, and the elegant Flower Maiden gracing the grounds.
Organizers said more than 700 people showed up.
“It’s a great turnout, even with the sprinkles,” said Alyssa Botelho, Discover Fairhaven Director. “We’re hardy New Englanders.
A large tent with tables and chairs helped, so people could take eat their food out of the rain.
Tyler and Rebecca Rocha and their two children traveled from Somerset to support a relative with a food truck there. The kids said they liked the pony rides and the Flower Maiden.
“It’s organized very well, lots of food options,” said Mr. Rocha. “And it’s a beautiful setting.”
HarborFest will be held on 6/21, 7/19, 8/23, 9/20, with a different theme each month. They are still accepting vendors. Learn more about HarborFest and other Fairhaven events at DiscoverFairhaven.org
