Black Lives Matter protest and march, Sat., 6/13, at 11 a.m., Acushnet Town Hall, 122 Main St. Meet at Town Hall for speakers and then march along South Main Street into Fairhaven. Please wear a mask and practice physical distancing at this event.
This is an event to support the Black community. We will have speakers and discussions on racism and white privilege starting at 11 a.m. Some discussions may be uncomfortable for some or you may not understand them but they are necessary to have. We ask that you please come and listen and learn about what Black people experience on an everyday basis in life. Please come with an open mind and heart. Our goal is to help in creating a fair, safe and loving environment for the Black community. As we have seen in recent Black deaths there are a lot of senseless death and injustices happening in the USA. We the people need to make changes. We need to fight for changes in the system also. We are a peaceful group coming to teach and share our knowledge on racism.
Please come and join us for the march we will have after the speakers are done. We will march down South Main Street into Fairhaven. There will be a police presence as they would like to come and support the cause. Both Acushnet and Fairhaven police have been notified. They will also be helping to make this a safe march for us. I encourage you to invite your friends and family to come help support and learn. Thank you.
Please consider wearing a mask and practicing the best social distancing you can during this event!
