The Massachusetts State Police and the State Police Association of Massachusetts (“SPAM”) jointly announced a new program aimed at increasing the physical activity of Massachusetts schoolchildren amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “Workout With a Trooper” offers virtual, physical training to school-age children who are missing gym classes, organized sports and other athletic activities.
The workouts, which will be streamed on the Massachusetts State Police Facebook page, will range from 8-20 minutes. They will be designed for participation by children at all fitness levels.
The video workouts will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 11:30 a.m. They will be posted on Facebook afterwards for those unable to make the scheduled workout time. Students can then click and work out at the time that is best for them.
The pilot program is scheduled to run through June 26, 2020 which was the last scheduled day of school for many municipalities in the state.
