Boston Area Rape Crisis Center Virtual Walk for Change, Sun., 4/26, 10:00 AM. Registration: $40. Visit https://barccwalk.org The virtual Walk for Change will combine elements of online livestreaming, prerecorded messages, and fun online activities, including the announcement of the #Bark4BARCC dog contest winner. Registered participants will have access to exclusive online Walk for Change content in the week leading up to the Virtual Walk as well as on the day of the Virtual Walk.
The annual Walk for Change is the largest event in New England raising awareness of sexual assault, harassment, and abuse and offering visible community support for survivors. The event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars, supporting the confidential services that survivors rely on — including the hotline, counseling, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, and assistance with health, housing, financial, and safety needs. Funds raised at this year’s virtual Walk for Change will also help meet the immediate evolving needs of survivors during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, such as food and housing insecurities.
By keeping the Walk for Change on April 26, but holding it in a different way, BARCC will create a space where survivors and their loved ones can still gather and feel supported, and community members throughout Greater Boston and beyond can come together to show their support, take action, and raise vital funds for BARCC’s services.
In addition to exclusive online Walk for Change content, registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
Founded in 1973, BARCC is the only comprehensive rape crisis center in the Greater Boston area and the oldest and largest center of its kind in New England.
