From Acushnet Fire & EMS Department Facebook Page
THIS IS US
Monday, February 3, 2020: This week we will begin a new feature on our Facebook page designed to introduce each of our members to you. “This Is Us” (with apologies to the television show) will single out each member and tell you their story as a member of the department. I know how dedicated, professional and special our folks are. It’s time you did as well”.
— Chief Kevin Gallagher
We begin our introductions with the member of our department with the most seniority, David Makuch.
David joined the department in 1977 (the year “Rocky” was in theaters) and is serving his 43rd year of continuous service. He holds the rank of Call Captain and has the responsibility of supervising our members assigned to Station #2 in the north end of town.
Many of you know David as co-owner, along with his wife Cathy, of Chloe’s Countryside Kennels on Leonard Street. After 21 years of daily attention to their boarders, Dave and Cathy recently sold their business to Paul and Becky Frysinger. (Paul is a full-time Firefighter for the town.)
Capt. Makuch is an example of the experience level we benefit from.
As a resident and business owner in town he rarely fails to respond to a call regardless of the time of day.
Acushnet, meet David Makuch.
