The North Fairhaven Improvement Association held its annual sing-along and lighting of Benoit Square on Friday, 12/6, and Mother Nature dished out just a tad of precipitation and just the right amount of cold to make it feel like winter, but not feel too harsh. A little snow on the ground from the storm a couple of days before added to the ambience. The threat of rain, however, did seem to scare some people away, as the crowd was maybe not as large as other years. But it was an enthusiastic bunch. People sang, led by the capable voices of Miss New Bedford Teen Juliette Simmons, and Voice in Time members Katherine Papas and Brooke Boucher.
After the sing-along in the square, Santa made his grand entrance on an antique fire truck and children of all ages headed inside to visit with the big guy and have their pictures taken.
The square will be lit up every night until the first week in January.
