The Buzzards Bay Coalition will welcome representatives from the town of Fairhaven and members of the public this Friday, to celebrate the opening and permanent protection of the 61-acre Carvalho Farm. This coastal property features a native grassland meadow, active agricultural field, forested wetlands, and salt marshes along the shore of Nasketucket Bay, protecting an extraordinary array of Buzzards Bay’s vital habitats.
This property was purchased by the Buzzards Bay Coalition in 2017 with the support of Fairhaven Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds. Carvalho Farm is part of the growing complex of protected lands around Nasketucket Bay, helping to preserve one of Buzzards Bay’s healthiest waterways.
Following a short introduction and speaking remarks, Coalition staff will lead a walk through the property.
