We’re baacckk!!!
Did you miss us?
I surely do hope so.
Our cover story is one of my favorite events. The kids just go wild jumping through the spray from the fire hose. There’s always at least one little guy or gal that just steals the show, but manages to sneak away from my camera every time I try to get that money shot. This year, though, I think I managed to squeak out a few good ones. See page 12 for that. And find us on Facebook for a few more that I just didn’t have room for.
In the coming-up-soon portion of the program, we’ve got Outdoor Movie Night this Saturday. A family-friendly, Disney movie, Inside Out, is a delightful little tale about what goes on inside a human’s head-ful of emotions. Yup, I actually saw this one.
Anyway, if you haven’t been to an outdoor movie night in Fairhaven, you should really try to get there on Saturday. The movie is totally free, the entertainment is free, and Joy, from the movie, is free. Some of the food costs money, but you are totally free to bring along a picnic basket.
We’ve got some meeting coverage for you this week. See page 4 for Selectboard, page 19 for BPW, page 16 for Acushnet Selectboard, and page 18 for some LNG news.
We’ve also got a letter to the editor on page 19 about the trees getting cut down on Green Street. Oh, let me count the ways I want to weigh in on this one. But, I’ll wait until next week. The meeting….I mean “neighborhood forum,” is on 7/26, and I’ll report on it and add my two cents then.
The notice for this meeting…er, Neighborhood Forum, says nothing about trees. The notice came from the Board of Public Works, which is concerned with the road, not the trees. The Tree Warden did not run a notice about the 17 trees to be cut down. Town Counsel seems to think it is not necessary, finding a loophole in the law that allows the indiscriminate cutting of decades old shade trees. I’m putting that letter on the website so my astute readers can decide for themselves.
Now, I know perfectly well that Mr. Crotty has a fancy schmancy law degree and oodles of experience in all this stuff. But, surely, my understanding of the English language can’t be THAT bad, can it?
Alas, I believe I’ve spent my two cents after all, haven’t I?
Oh dear, oh dear (as The White Rabbit would say, I note with proper citation so as not to plagiarize), whatever will I do for next week?
I’m sure I’ll think of something.
Meanwhile, please be sure to tell our advertisers you saw their ads here, and feel free to donate to this little venture.
Until next week then, see ya
