Yo! Summer, get back here, I’m not done with you, yet!
I love autumn, I really do, but I’m not ready for you, yet. Go back, take a nap. Come back in a few weeks.
Meanwhile, things are chugging along in these parts. We have all kinds of fun stuff in here for you this week. The pre-fall events (not quite fall, yet, okay?) are happening, with the Harvest Fun Day (on page 3) being our biggie this weekend. Then next weekend (see page 5), it’s the last cannon fire you’ll see until the spring. So, don’t say I didn’t give you enough time.
On a sad note, for the public, not the owners, Carousel Family Fun Center in Fairhaven is closing its doors (see page 21). The owners have two locations and decided that it was just too much to continue with both, so, after 27 years in Fairhaven, the skating rink is closing.
Many a young adult has great memories of the place, and we have covered an event or two there over the years, too. But things change, folks. People are sad to see it go, but nothing lasts forever.
The town auction got pushed out a week (see page 4), and that’s another event that signals the end of summer. Looks like they have some fun stuff for sale this year. The list isn’t complete, though, so keep an eye out online for changes. Or, better yet, just show up. It’s a hoot of an event. I love covering it.
There’s lots of other stuff in here, of course. As you look through, please notice who our advertisers are and tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News. Also, please thank the places that distribute our paper, too. Let them know you pick it up there and that you appreciate that they make room for it.
I’d like to thank the people who called and sent donations these last couple of weeks. Your support is greatly appreciated. And thank you to the MANY people who called, emailed, or mailed words of support.
The best revenge is, truly, living well. Until next week then…
