Rick Ferreira of Fairhaven

On September 6, 2019, the life my brother, Richard L. Ferreira, came to an end here on earth.
Raised in Acushnet and Fairhaven, he spent his adult years in Arizona and Nevada, then he chose to return home for retirement.
Rick was a very particular house painter, but for many of you residing at Oxford Terrce, he may have been your neighbor, your friend, the man you watched outside clearing snow off vehicles, assisting with shoveling or weeding the gardens.
Rick like to stay busy, helping with groceries, offering whenever he could be of use to the residents, or simply enjoying a walk to visit our late mother at Dana Court and through Riverside Cemetery.
In August, his days turne into needing the help of others. The stubbornness grew stronger with a desire to remain at home. I’d like to express a special thanks to all who made this possible.
Those of you who came to visit, share scriptures, assist with his care, the Housing Authority maintenance crew, Southcoast Health Hospice, the ambulance runs and the Fairahven Police Department’s Officer Scott Coelho, who helped him out of the tub when he was so darned determined that he could do it, only to say after, “Yeah, guess I can’t anymore!”
Please know that you are all very much appreciated.
Lastly, I’d like to thank my brother Michael, who, despite his own health, committed himself daily and stood by Rick’s side through this transition to a life of no more suffering (Rev. 21:4)
Unfortunately, at this time, we will not be having the opportunity to gather in his memory. All I ask is that you reflect in a way Ricky may have touched your life. Remember his willingness, smile and chuckle, and do the same for another.
